01

Challenge

Operations needed to know how much dilution to expect in daily dig polygons and in weekly and monthly sequences.

02

Problem

A single deterministic model smooths away the heterogeneity that drives dilution at mining scale, and the dilution assumptions in use were not tied to the geology. Operations could not say how much dilution to expect in a daily dig polygon, nor how it would accumulate over a week or a month.

03

Solution

We simulated the geological units with a hierarchical plurigaussian model and the grades inside each unit with sequential Gaussian simulation. Every realization was then post-processed by dig polygon, weekly and monthly sequence, bench and phase, so that dilution is read at the scale where decisions are made.

04

Deliverables

The work yields simulated block models of geology and grade. The follow-on scope is the expected dilution and its range at each operational scale, ready to feed ore control and short-term planning.
